Tablets of the Missing in Normandy American Cemetery. This is where Peter Isles' "grave" is since his body was never recovered.

Peter Isles was also recognized with three awards for his honor and service to our country. 

The Purple Heart- this award is given to any solider who was wounded or killed in battle.

Distinguished Flying Cross- this award is a military decoration for the US Armed Forces and is given to soldiers who distinguish themselves by acts of heroism in aerial flight.

Air Medal and Three Oak Leaf Cluster- this award is worn to denote award of second and succeeding awards of decoration(other than the Air Medal).

 

Normandy Beach, France. Near where Isles was last seen on his mission where he was later declared dead while missing.

The Purple Heart was awarded to Peter Isles after his death for his sacrifices in being killed in battle.

The Distinguished Flying Cross was awarded to Peter Isles for his acts of heroism in aerial flight.

The Air Medal (left) is paired with the Three Oak Leaf Clusters that Peter Isles earned for his services.
